Outdoor lovers will also enjoy Crane Creek Regional Park, which is 128 acres and offers hiking, cycling and horseback riding, as well as birdwatching. Among the options for an overnight stay are the Gables Wine Country Inn, a restored 1887 Victorian; the DoubleTree Hotel Sonoma Wine County, which has two golf courses nearby; or the Graton Casino. WestMarin Point Reyes Vineyard Inn offers lodging, making it the ideal headquarters for exploring Point Reyes National Seashore and Point Reyes Station. In addition to sipping the inn's sparkling wine, guests can visit Heidrun Meadery, which offers honey-based sparkling varietals, or visit Cowgirl Creamery to see a curd-making demonstration and taste some fine cheeses. Then they can pick up picnic fixings from Cowgirl Cantina and head for Heart's Desire Beach for a hike in the hills or a swim in the warm water. To see the wide-open ocean and spot some whales if the season is right, travelers can head out to the Point Reyes Lighthouse. And for visitors who'd like to see how the area's first people lived, the Bear Valley Visitor Center offers a 90-minute guided walking tour of Kule Loklo, a reconstructed Coast Miwok Village, on Sundays. They can also participate in the annual Big Time Festival in July. Sonoma Valley Gloria Ferrer Wines, on the outskirts of Sonoma, offers flamenco dancing and saber demonstrations at La Fiesta de la Paella in July and a dinner to celebrate the harvest in September. Cornerstone Sonoma, right across Arnold Drive, features nine Cornerstone gardens, as well as five Sunset gardens focused on topics such as food production, bee habitat and composting. Quarryhill Botanical Gardens in Glen Ellen is an Asian woodland garden with the largest collection of wild-sourced Asian plants in the world, and Glen Ellen is also home to Jack London State Historic Park, where Transcendence Theatre Company showcases four productions of Broadway Under the Stars in the summer. "A lot of people say it's the best night ever," says executive co-director Stephan Stubbins. For overnight stays, the Kenwood Inn and Spa has recently reopened after extensive remodeling, as has the Glen Ellen Inn Oyster Grill and Martini Bar, which has seven Secret Cottages on the banks of Calabasas Creek.
