Scheduled pro tempore officers who took care of opening Grand Lodge and held chairs until each officer was installed were: Dewey R. Preslar as grand master; David Carmichael, deputy grand master; R. Dennis Sims, senior grand warden; L. David Potts, junior grand warden; Danial M. Hogue, grand treasurer; Mark L. Schuping, grand secretary; Mitchell M. Goodman, senior grand deacon; Bob J. Mazzoni, junior grand deacon; Floyd M. Burton, grand marshal; Donald J. Wood and Harold W. Morefield, grand stewards; John W. Jones, grand tyler; and John T. Hudson, grand chaplain. All are members of Andrew Jackson 576 except the senior Preslar who is a member of Albemarle 703. The day before the installation, the Board of General Purposes met for the last time with Grand Master Bob Gresham. A dinner honoring the incoming grand master was held on Friday night at the Rowan County Shrine Club. Refreshments followed the installation. The event was directed by Dennis Sims, Johnny Surles, and Bobby Meadows. The Knights of St. Andrew served as ushers. Ric Carter photos BRADSHAW, from page 1 partners, formed Zenergy Technologies, a software quality assurance consulting firm. At Zenergy, Shaun serves as chief financial officer and vice-president. He is an indemand speaker at QA and software testing conferences throughout the United States and Canada. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Greensboro Center for Inclusion, a local nonprofit that promotes inclusive early education programs. Shaun���s journey in Masonry began with his initiation into Stokesdale 428 where he was raised on August 5, 1997. He served as master of the lodge in 2003 and as 23rd Masonic District deputy grand master in 2005���2007. He is a 33rd Degree member of Greensboro Scottish Rite, an active member and officer of Greensboro York Rite Bodies, and a member of numerous appendant Masonic bodies. Shaun is a member of the Wilkerson College faculty where he leads ���The Master���s Toolbox��� workshop. STATE, from page 3 Deep Run Pleasant Hill 304 set October 13 as the date for their Past Masters��� and Ladies Night. ��� The Trestleboard Kenansville About 40 attended St. John���s 13���s Annual Picnic at Maxwell���s Mill. They featured the usual chicken and pastry. ��� Lodge Log Spencer The town of Spencer is the home of the North Carolina Transportation Museum. Spencer 543 held their annual fundraiser there in September during the Museum���s Day Out With Thomas event. On other fundraising fronts, they held their barbecued chicken dinner October 27. Their grandfather clock raffle was won by Todd Jones. It netted $2,000 for charity. They were planning a very short meeting for their October 9 stated to have fun with their families on Past Masters��� Night. No big program was plotted out, they were just going to have fun visiting and picking guitar. Planning and collecting school supplies has already begun on their 12th Annual Back to School Pool Party for the kids at the Masonic Home for Children. August 25 is the big day. ��� On the Square and Johnny Hatley Conover Ray Abernathy Jr., Kyle Watts, and John Issaks Jr. were made honorary members of Conover 709 in the spring. The upstairs bathroom project in Conover is complete, and the past masters picture frame project is nearly so. ��� Newsletter China Grove Eureka 283 was holding their Annual Awards Banquet November 3. ��� Jason Whitley West Jefferson Ashe 594 had a hoedown and pinto bean supper on October 20. They were raffling a pistol, a Steven Shoemaker print, and giving away door prizes. ��� Richard Edmondson Wingate Meadow Branch 578 held its annual barbecue on October 19. A work day at the lodge was set for a couple days earlier to trim the hedges and move the past masters portraits. They had fried fish at their Past Masters��� Night. ��� Brandon Thomas Union Grove Grassy Knob 471 was holding a Turkey Shoot and Rifle Competition October 20. Lodges in the 30th Masonic District were challenged to bring a three-man team to compete for a trophy. Profits are for the benefit of the Masonic Homes. Grassy Knob���s Family Night was set for November 17. ��� Tom Gregory Thomasville It���s Thanksgiving Banquet time at Thomasville. They held their annual event November 15 at Memorial United Methodist Church. They were honoring Masonic widows and urged their members to bring family and guests. District Court Judge Jimmy Myers was the speaker at the dinner. ��� Trestle Board Morganton Catawba Valley 217 held its 36th Annual Barbecue October 4. They were having a Blood Drive at the same time. Suppose that blood will be carrying a heavier than usual cholesterol load? ��� Catawba Valley Lodge Kernersville The guys from Kernersville 669 were having Sunday lunch with the kids at the Masonic Home for Children in Oxford on September 30. On November 16, they were having Thanksgiving dinner at the lodge. Family and friends were invited. ��� Lodge News Concord Cabarrus 720 held a chicken and dumpling fundraiser October 20. Proceeds are to be split between the charities. Their Past Masters��� Night was set for October 4. ��� Newsletter Highlands Blue Ridge 435 Master Luke Osteen promised to bring treats and wear his Winky the Human Fanbelt costume to their meeting closest to Halloween. (Sorry I missed that one.) On October 20, they were having their Fall Hot Dog Sale. ��� Trestleboard Mount Gilead A committee at Blackmer 127 is looking into installing a chair lift in the lodge. ��� Blackmer Buzz Salisbury Fulton 99 held it annual Masonic Charities Barbecue October 25. They cooked more than a ton of pork. Proceeds were for our Homes as well as the lodge���s local charities. ��� Steve Schenk Selma Selma 320 marched and rode a float in the town���s October 6 Railroad Days Parade. They held an open house at the lodge that afternoon so members of the public could have a look around. Selma Lodge���s golf tournament was played October 19 at Cardinal Country Club in Pine Level. ��� David Ellis Wallace Wallace 595 held a special night in October to honor past masters, widows, Eastern Stars, and service awardees. ��� Wallace Lodge Paw Creek West Gate 738 gets busy with fundraising in the fall. They held their traditional Chicken Fry on October 19. ���All you can eat or carry-out, we give you all you can eat.��� That���s a motto for a hungry man! The fall feed is for benefit of the Masonic Home for Children. On November 10, they sponsored a golf tournament to help pay for a liver transplant for a local lady. They were playing at Green Meadows in Mount Holly. ��� West Gate Lodge Harmony A Family Night was scheduled for November 3 at Harmony 299. ��� Al Jones Pineville James K. Polk 759 had their annual Chicken and Pig Pickin��� September 15. That���s when they mark the end of summer by throwing a big party for the Masonic family. They had a moon bounce for the kids, corn hole games, piped in music, and door prizes galore. ��� Chris Minor Southport Pythagoras 249 recently donated $500 to Shop with a Cop, a Christmas program for needy children. They also sent cash gifts to a couple of brothers who needed help with medical expenses. Pythagoras Lodge had a Past Masters Third Degree on October 9. They were having Widows Appreciation and Awards Night November 17. ��� Newsletter Denton Denton 404 held their Second Annual Golf Tournament in October. They played at Uwharrie Golf Club. ��� Trestle Board Hickory Hickory 343 held their Past Masters��� Night September 24. They performed a Third Degree after the dinner. ��� Lee Spach Mint Hill Mint Hill was serving a free steak dinner on Past Masters��� Night November 1. They have installed wi-fi in the lodge. They also held a cleanup day October 13 in which they concentrated on sprucing up the yard. Mint Hill Lodge���s Fall Fish Fry was held October 20. ��� Mint Hill Lodge Ranger Montgomery 429 has moved its meeting time up to 7:00 p.m. for winter months only. ��� Derek Cheek Carthage The 21st Masonic District Colonial Degree Team helped Carthage 181 initiate a candidate this summer. The team works in colonial costume. Carthage Lodge was to hold a fundraiser October 26. ��� Gary Bosworth
