W hile all things pickle will rule the weekend of April 27-28, chili will be a close second during the 32nd annual North Carolina Pickle Festival. The annual chili cook-off has grown in popu- larity so much that it will be expanded from one day to two with categories added, as well as teams competing for cash awards and trophies. In the past, the cook-off was held on Saturday, but this year a Friday night competition has been added. Friday night will feature homestyle chili, while Saturday's cook-off will feature red traditional chili and salsa. "Homestyle is what a person makes at home with beans or corn or pasta — pretty much however you make it at home," said cook-off chairman Jamie Grady. Red traditional chili does not include beans, he said. The chili entered into the competition has to be cooked on site for three to four hours, while chili that is entered the annual chili cook-off has grown in popularity, and this year, it will be a two-day competition for the best chili cooks around. 10 — Mount Olive Messenger Wednesday, April 25, 2018 NEW RENTALS ONLY SPECIALS! • $10 off Rental Fee for one month • Active Military Get 10% OFF monthly rental fee • Expires May 31, 2018 SELECT UNITS AVAILABLE Hours: Mon.-Fri. 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 104 E NC 403 Hwy (Units) 106 Rones Chapel Rd (Office) Mt.
