cles will line both side of the 200 block of North Center Street. Also back this year is the mascot race. There also are antique farm equipment dis- plays, an artisan village where local artists will display and sell their work. One of the new attractions this year will be parrot artwork — that is artwork created by parrots. The birds are from the non-profit Cape Fear Parrot Sanctuary that rescues, rehabilitates and cares for par- rots who are unwanted, abused, neglected or whose owners can no longer care for them. Also new this year is a pickle song. People had until March 30 to make a song, record it on video and post it to a YouTube video that will come up on the Pickle Festival webpage. Contestants had to use the official lyrics, but could use whatever genre music that they wanted. The top two vote-getters online will be asked to perform live at the N.C. Pickle Festival on Saturday, April 28. The third round of voting will be done by audience participation on Saturday, April 28 — the contestant with the loudest audience response will be declared the final winner. The contest will begin at 3:40 p.m. at the Katie Country Main Stage on Center Street. The grand prize will be $350 cash and a year's supply of Mt. Olive Pickle Co. products. The runner-up will receive $100 cash. The helicopter rides at last year's festival on Saturday were so popular that a second helicopter has been added this year. "Last year, the helicopter couldn't even begin to keep up with demand," Beck said. "They have said they are bringing two helicopters. So we are pretty excited about that." Check the N.C. Pickle Festival website, www.ncpickle- fest.org, for updates for the event. For more informa- tion, contact the Chamber at 919- 658-3113.
