A s we power through the spring semester here at Washington Beta, we are pleased to see our hard work continue to pay off. In addition to a large class of excellent new members, the chapter continues to see academic improvement and philanthropic success. We look forward to keeping up the pace and maintaining SAE's high repu- tation on campus. HigHly SucceSSful RecRuiting yeaR Between both the past fall and spring recruitment season, we are be- yond proud to announce a total of 39 new members to Washington Beta. These young men are all off to a great start with our new member education programs, and we are already seeing the new members de- velop their leadership skills and SAE pride. On a related note, several of our members had the privilege of attending both the Greek Leadership Camp and IFC Men's Retreat this semester as we continue to cultivate a generation of young leaders. Older and newer members alike are ex- cited for the future of SAE. academic and PHilantHRoPic StRideS So far this semester, our chapter GPA has risen to a collective 3.1. This puts us within striking distance of our goal of 3.15, and we look forward to reaching this academic milestone soon. For many years, Washington Beta has put in the most community service hours of any group on cam- pus, and we intend to keep this up in the years to come. We are also Washington Beta Enjoys Huge Recruitment Numbers Members Set Goals for Academics and Philanthropy washington Beta Bylines washington beta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon pleased to report that we have remained in compliance with university and fraternity standards as we move forward with new policy changes. looking foRwaRd In addition to reaching our GPA goal, we intend to improve fundraising efforts for our philanthropy, RAINN. Upcoming philanthropic events in- clude a car wash as well as a basketball tournament on our new court. We also hope to add Mom's and Dad's Weekends, as well as various alumni events, in the future. At Washington Beta we are proud of our members' active lifestyles, as we continue to be daily faces at the rec center and see more and more brothers participating in intramurals. We also look forward to improving relationships with the other Greek houses on campus, as well as rela- tionships with our generous alumni. This success would not be possible without your continued support. Together, we plan to finish this semester strong and can't wait to see how SAE's hard work pays off in the years to come. Brothers for the Long Haul Alumnus Ben Pavish '16 Praises Washington Beta's Strong Culture B en Pavish '16 comes from a family of Greek alumni, but when he enrolled at Washington State, he wasn't initially sure whether to pledge. "I was sitting in Greek 101 and suddenly realized, 'Hey, I need to get on this right now,'" Ben said of his thought process. He promptly emailed some recruitment chairmen. "Kyle Ellingsen '14 was the only one who responded, and it felt like destiny at that point." For Ben, joining Washington Beta was a life-changer. "I sort of knew what being Greek entailed initially, but the outcome was tenfold of anything I expected," Ben said, emphasizing the mas- sive group of friends he gained despite coming from a small town. "They are your support group, your biggest ally, and your biggest motivation to do well." (Continued on back)
