Biscuits and gravy -- $3.00/2 bis- cuits; $2.50/1 biscuit; eggs and sausage $3.50 Donation – members and guests. These go to the military families who can use them up to 6 months after expiration. Please help us in this endeavor to assist our Veterans. Coupons can be left at Post, Mt. Quail Restaurant, General Store, Community Thrift Store, or Lutheran Church. We are also collecting labels for the school and National Home for Children. You can leave items at same locations as coupons. In Memoriam Michael Rick Smith "Smitty" Michael Rick Smith "Smitty" was born June 21, 1951. "Smitty", 66 years old, passed away on April 2, 2018 at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, NV. He was the manager of Texas BBQ RV Park since 2005. "Smitty" was a Marine and often attended VFW Post 769 events. He had the heart of a teddy bear, and all of his friends will miss him. Plans for a memorial have not been fi nalized. WASHINGTON – The U.S. Small Business Administration kicks off National Small Business Week 2018 on April 29 in the nation's capital by having SBA Administrator Linda McMahon recognize and award the nation's top small businesses, entre- preneurs, small business advocates and champions. Since 1963, the president of the United States has issued a procla- mation calling for the celebration of National Small Business Week. This year National Small Business Week will be recognized from April 29- May 5 with national events planned in Washington, D.C, Florida, Geor- gia, South Carolina and North Car- olina along with a three day virtual conference. There will be a free Virtual Conference during National Small Business Week, May 1– May 3 between 12:30–6:30 p.m. EDT. The Virtual Confer- ence offers all the best parts of an in-person conference, but without trav- eling. Virtual Conference viewers will be able to watch educational webi- nars, get free business advice and network with fellow business owners. SMALL BUSINESS FACTS • There are nearly 28 million small businesses in the U.S. Of those 28 mil- lion, a full 22 million consist of one lone employee. • Over 50% of the 120 million Americans in the workforce work in a small business. • The fastest growing sectors in the world of small businesses include auto repair shops, dry cleaners, and beauty salons. • Since 1990, large companies have eliminated 4 million jobs—but small businesses have added 8 million new ones! • 49% small businesses have been created since 1982. • Small businesses inspire innovative ideas twice as much as big business- es, and tend to produce environmentally-friendly products. • In 2011, the total revenue from all American small businesses reached $989.6 BILLION. • According to a Forbes study, 12.5% of small businesses are made up of immigrants from other countries. • In 2013, 52% of companies found new customers on Facebook. • Approximately 543,000 new businesses are started each month.
