Unfortunately, we quickly find that many new interests—careers, families, and civic activities—can create valid diversions. e day-to-day activities of life take over and, before long, we can fall out of touch and begin to wonder what happened to our brothers. In efforts to keep the connection alive, Alpha Lambda has made a dedicat- ed effort under the guidance of Gerry Reese '71-862 and other alumni to maintain consistent alumni communication through newsletters since the 1970s. We are proud of this heritage and thank everyone who has actively contributed over the years. We commit to providing two newsletters each year containing alumni news, information on upcoming events, reports on various chapter activities, and current lists of undergraduate new members and officers. Additionally, once each year we plan to send out a biographical update al- lowing alumni to update the information we have on record. ese updates also provide the information for one of the most popular features in the newsletters, the "Alumnotes" section. Altogether, the updates are a vital tool in maintaining our records and our ties with one another. A biographical update is enclosed in this newsletter. Please fill it out and drop it back in the mail. Consistent reunion opportunities are also important. We had outstanding participation for the centennial weekend last April. Having hosted success- ful football weekend reunions over the past decade, we will be continuing the tradition this fall. Please mark your calendar for the weekend of Satur- day, September 22, when the Beavers host the Arizona Wildcats in football. Registration information will be provided in coming months. e House Corporation and Alumni Association are extremely proud to communicate the success of the undergraduate brothers with all alumni. Lambda Chi Alpha is now the largest Greek brotherhood at Oregon State University, with more than 160 active members! e chapter leads on campus and in the community through philanthropic efforts, intramurals, on-campus leadership, and competitions such as the All-University Sing. We want to do our part as alumni to support the undergraduates' efforts and help them remain competitive on campus. While our undergraduate chapter shines on campus, in contrast our 54-year-old facility is showing its age and does not reflect the 100-plus years of our chapter's success. e House Corporation is exploring options for potential improvements and will provide consistent updates on plans in future newsletters. It is our hope that your fraternal bonds are energized and strengthened as we move forward with plans for Alpha Lambda. e involvement of alumni is crucial for the continued success of the chapter. We encourage you to be involved during this exciting time. ank you in advance for helping Alpha Lambda to build on our remarkable first century with an even better second century!
