WAYNE COUNTY Welcome to May! This month is full of activities, including the Wayne WOMAN Magazine Expo at the Maxwell Center. There will be cooking demon- strations, an array of vendors for all your shopping needs and health professionals discussing the effects of stress on women. This month also features the 44th annual Wooden Boat Show in Beaufort, which will feature exhib- its, displays and even a demonstra- tion on how to get a ship into a bottle. Relay for Life is also this month in Wayne County. This event, which has been a local staple for decades, will honor survivors, remember those who have passed and carrying on the fight by rais- ing money to go to the American Cancer Society. The eighth annual international Praxis Film Festival will highlight a host of films and documentaries this month with one recounting the day two hydrogen bombs landed in Wayne County and another about the eccentric home of Allan Gurganus. Also this month, Ayden's bar- becue heritage will be honored and celebrated with the Kings of Q BBQ Cook-off. The Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned event will pit pitmaster against pitmaster for the crown. "Go!" editor
