Lambda Chi Alpha - University of Illinois - Champaign, Illinois • Spring 2018 Chi Zetagram A Lifetime of True Brotherhood Alumni Volunteers Needed – We Need You "I was a Lambda Chi in college." Those too-often spoken words should grate on each of us like fingernails on a chalkboard—we all ARE Lambda Chis, for life, and proud members of Chi Zeta. And with that comes an obligation by each of us to keep our chapter at Illinois strong, and our alumni group vibrant. Brother, this is your chance, and we really need your help. For the past few years our messages have understandably reached to your wallets, for the needed financial support making our future at Illinois possible. Now it's time to ask for your true support of our beloved fraternity at Illinois, as a volunteer of time and talent to help build that strong future. That support starts with leadership, drawing on the skills of our amazing alumni—including you! Whether you would like to serve on the Board of your Alumni Association to help guide us, or to become a member of our critical Alumni Advisory Board supporting the undergraduate chapter officers as a mentor and guide, the experience is rewarding in many ways. Chi Zeta cannot survive without alumni involvement, and your skills and experience can make a big difference. Brothers, these are opportunities to enrich your lives, give back, and do something important—and best of all, it's fun! There is no large time commitment for any single volunteer—one or two board meetings and conference calls a year for the Alumni Board (with a standard three-year term), or periodic meeting or communication with an undergraduate officer for an Alumni Advisor (a very important and rewarding experience). We are looking for alumni of all ages, including younger alumni brothers to step up now. Most of the recent tasks delivering our great new home on Armory were shouldered by brothers from the 1980s, 1970s, and earlier, which proves the power of a Lifetime of True Brotherhood. But it's important now to also engage our younger brothers for ideas, energy, and a better awareness of the issues facing our actives on campus today. To those of you from the 1990s and 2000s, it's your time to lead. To our more recent graduates, your insights and suggestions can be invaluable to the active chapter officers today. And it's easy to do! If you are interested to become a member of the Association Board, just send us an email at contact@ChiZeta.com, and we'll take it from there. If you would like to more directly support your active brothers and chapter, take a look at Steve Parsons' attached description of the Alumni Advisory Board opportunities. Your best fraternity experience isn't in the past, it's part of our future! B rothers, it has been my honor to be the High Pi chapter advisor at Chi Zeta for 16 years now. The best part of this is that I've known so many of you personally and look forward to continuing our Brotherhood and my involvement in Lambda Chi nationally and at Illinois. Now, I'm reaching out to some of you as my friends and brothers for your support. One of the most important developments at Lambda Chi nationally was the launch of a new program that brings together alumni and other volunteers to serve as role models and Advisors to the undergraduate members of a chapter. Both members and non-members may serve as Advisors to provide guidance and support to the actives. Alumni members can advise the High Zeta chapter officers with insights and continuity. The goal is to positively impact our brothers' experience JOIN THE ALUMNI ADVISORY BOARD High Pi Steve Parsons ΦΒ341 speaks with actives and alumni members at recent chapter meeting.
