A trAditioN to Build upoN Reaching Our Goal, One Step at a Time Alpha Nu… A Tradition to Build Upon Campaign Is Moving Forward Greetings to all, The Alpha Nu House Corporation held its Annual Meeting on Saturday, March 3 at the Sigma Chi House in Austin with nine of 14 Board of Directors present. For the upcoming year (2018-2019), there are 12 members (all re- elected) serving as Directors. Brothers Malone Hill '67 and Spencer Stevens '92 have decided to step down as Directors for the coming year. I appreciate their serving the House Corporation over these past years. The Capital Campaign for the Alpha Nu Chapter is moving forward (like a heard of turtles at times and like a stampede at other times .... go figure!). I appreciate all those of you who are participating and encouraging your Alpha Nu Brothers to also step up and pledge towards our goals of the complete redevelopment of our facility at 2701 Nueces. The Redevelopment Committee is moving forward with presenting the Site Plans to the City of Austin for approval. This is our first big hurdle to face in the whole scheme of things. Once the Site Plans are approved, we can then move ahead with the actual construction planning and implementation. We have a very able team of Brothers and other professionals working together to make this happen. This is a step by step process that must be completed in order to accomplish our present plans and goals for the Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Chi at The University's future growth and legacy. Updates to all of you are going out in a monthly email from Brother Lucian Morehead '94 to keep us all informed. The undergraduate Chapter is healthy and continuing to excel on campus and in the community. Last November 18, 46 new Brothers became Sigma Chi's with several new Brothers being ΣX legacies as well. These are a group of outstanding young men and I encourage each of you to stop by 2701 Nueces to meet some of them in person. They continue to make each of us "Proud to be a Sigma Chi". Chapter morale is at an all-time high due to numerous brotherhood events during the semester. Over $60,000 Raised from Fight Night On our philanthropic front, Alpha Nu remains determined to give back to our community. The Alpha Nu Chapter ranks first among every other IFC chapter on campus in overall charity donations. Donations totaled more than $60,000 to the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the B+ Foundation from our 38th annual Fight Night. This event continues to be a tremendous success and we look forward to beating our total funds raised next year. Additionally, Alpha Nu set a $30,000 donation goal from our Derby Days event, which took place April 5-7. As for our B+ hero, Nicholas, we are extremely proud to say his cancer is in full remission! We are excited to sponsor our second B+ hero in the next few months. Reconnecting with Our Alumni The Chapter was electrified for the annual Audrey Freeman Golf Tournament this April. We always look forward to reconnecting with all of our alumni and sharing stories from our times on the 40 Acres. Thank you to everyone who joined, we hope to see you again next year. All in all, the Alpha Nu Chapter is expecting remarkable things to come in the next year and we're excited to have our alumni along for the journey.
