Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Chi at The University of Texas H Spring 2018 Founded in 1884 BROADER ALUMNI SUPPORT NEEDED Capital Campaign On the Edge of $2 Million Committed A s the spring semester comes to a close, another class of brothers transition from undergraduates to alumni. They join the ranks of the many men who have passed through the front door of our Chapter House and gone on to do great things for their families and communities. As active members, we learned the values of respect, friendship, leadership, and so much more. The house was a place we all came together to utilize and further expand on those traits and skills. The Time Is NOW! As we each reflect on our undergraduate experience, I'm sure we remember the alumni who were ever-present and part of our experience. If it weren't for the support of these alumni, our Fraternity experience would have been different. The older generations offered us guidance and support, as well as a place to live and develop. Now it's our turn to be those alumni to future generations of Alpha Nus. Now is our chance to make the Chapter better. Only 5.3% of Alumni Have Given The Alpha Nu...A Tradition to Build Upon capital campaign is off to a great start with $1,991,650 raised to date toward our $3 million campaign goal. But we can't reach our goal without broader alumni support. We don't want to sacrifice the scope of our project, or the quality of utilities. We need the support of every Alpha Nu alumnus if we are going to raise the remaining $1 million to reach or exceed our $3 million fundraising goal. The average Greek fundraising campaign has 20% participation among alumni. Currently, only 5.3% of our alumni have made their commitment to the campaign. How Can You Help? We need the support of each and every Sigma Chi in order to make this happen. If you are among the 1,328 alumni who are yet to make a contribution, NOW is the time to act. If you have already donated, we thank you for your support of our efforts. Please reach out to brothers in your class that have yet to give, and see if your class will be the first to reach 100% participation. Consider using the enclosed pledge form that we hope you will fill out and return. Keep in mind, with the opportunity to extend payments over a period of five years, pledges are more easily managed. With the strength of our alumni, I know this goal is well within our reach. The security this project will provide our Chapter is immeasurable, much like Sigma Chi's effect on each and every one of us. Honor your membership today and leave a legacy for generations to come. Being a part of Alpha Nu gave Andy a place to call home, and a close-knit group of friends at a large university. "Sigma Chi provided me an opportunity to make lifelong friends with lots of great people and those friendships continue to this day," he shared. Earning his bachelor's degree in business administration and management information systems in 1995, Andy is now the co-owner of a manufacturer's representative firm in the process control industry. His company provides valves and instrumentation to a variety of industries such as power, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and many oth- ers. Andy has worked with a variety of different types of people and temperaments. "At the Alpha Nu house, we had people from all walks of life and all backgrounds," he stat- ed, "and that experience prepared me well for my career." Andy fondly remembers days spent at the Chapter House on the basketball court, building for parties, the pool that was allowed for so many years, and the support of alumnus Audrey Freeman '84.
