editors corner Seasons Eatings F Rebekah Sanderlin, senior editor or many of us the holidays represent gathering with loved ones, partaking in traditions and, of course, sipping, chewing and tasting our ways to the end of the year. The temperature has dropped and even those among us with the strongest willpower find ourselves tempted by the luscious desserts, succulent savories and libations that have come to typify the holidays. There is, after all, a reason this magical season is known as the most wonderful time of the year. This issue of CityView is dedicated to tempting your taste buds with good food and drinks, and why shouldnt it be? Weve got all of December before we have to start making good on those New Years resolutions. So, whether your holiday plans involve a mad rush of travel or parties, or clear-skied, quiet nights around the fireplace with the people you love, soak up every minute and make the most of this short celebration season. Try some of our recipes here, use our locally produced holiday menu on page 45 to inspire your own celebrations, decorate your home with shiny baubles, and step out and sample some holiday cheer in a glass. Mostly, just enjoy the few weeks each year when we are all reminded to live, love and give big. Christmas will be over before we know it. I ts beginning to look a lot like Christmas the decorations, lights and spirit are alive and well in Fayetteville. With so many choices of events, you dont have to look far for something to kick in your holiday spirit. If you just arent there yet, be sure to check out page 47 to find some of the festive drinks baristas and bartenders are serving around town. Its another year of food and wine and sharing traditions, from cookie swaps to baking for friends, it is merry. Christmas is always the perfect time of year to give forgiveness, give thanks and sing carols. Does anyone think well have a white Christmas? I hope so. Wherever you spend Christmas this year, I wish you a heartwarming Christmas with loved ones, or reminiscing about them. A favorite childhood memory is the annual reading of "Mr. Willoughby's Christmas Tree," now it's not so uncommon to have your tree brush the ceiling.
