She is a self taught artist who spends her winters here in Quartzsite and resides in Western Carolina the rest of the year. She has been interested in art since childhood, her medium of choice is acrylic, which she uses to create her wildlife and nature art. The month of April Christine will be showing for the first time NEW fun filled paintings of western life. Spe- cial request for the upcoming Buck Conner's and/or Western Days in the Fall. Christine is an active member of the Desert Brush Art Club of Bouse and Quartzsite Art Guild right here in our area. "The means we use must be as pure as the ends we seek." ~Martin Luther King, Jr. AWC hosts open mic & artists' showcase Creative Writing students from Ari- zona Western College's Parker and Quartzite learning centers will host an open mic and artists' showcase from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2 at the AWC Parker Commu- nity Center. The event is co-sponsored by the Future Leaders of La Paz student or- ganization. Students and artists from the community will have the opportu- nity to share their work in 3-5-minute presentations. Writers, musicians, dancers, and comics are welcome. Any performance suitable for a café- sized stage space (roughly 8X8) is acceptable. The intent is to create a relaxing performance space for the community to come together and en- courage artists to pursue their craft. Individuals interested in per- forming should stop by the Parker Learning Center to sign up. Slots are limited to twenty-five individu- als or acts.
