kindergarten through grade 12, Decatur
schools o er a low student to teacher ratio
and dedicated teachers who know each

dedicated to the education of the town's
youth. Decatur High School houses grades
9-12; Decatur Middle School, grades 6-8;
Northside Elementary School, grades
kindergarten-5; and Decatur Pre-K houses

rst Saturday of every August is the Annual
Decatur Barbecue. is is a more than 60
year old tradition that includes a parade,
entertainment, chicken dinners, car show,
cra s, and much more. Decatur is also
home to one of the last standing Kansas
City Southern train depots that has been
converted to a museum. e Kansas City
Southern E-7 locomotive attracts attention
from across the country as one of the last of
its kind. Close by is a mid-1800s log cabin
that preserves some of the history of the
area during the Civil War Days.
