PAGE 3 The DelTa Chi eDuCaTional FounDaTion Looking Back on the Educational Foundation's Successful 2017 Help Make 2018 Even Stronger by Supporting Delta Chi T hank you for helping to make 2017 another successful year for Delta Chi and the Foundation. With your support, we raised more than three-quarters of a million dollars for programs like the "A"s' Academy, the Fraternity's first Emerging Leaders Academy, individual scholarships, and the educational portion of several chapter houses. Nearly 1,000 donors helped us reach this figure. We are very grateful for the support of so many alumni, undergraduates, and friends of the Fraternity. 2017 saw a significant evolution in the Foundation's organization, as we expanded our staff to include two fundraising representatives in Jason Sisk, New Mexico State '03, and Peter Lane, Georgia Southern '07. Additionally, Tim Woodward stepped in as the new director of Foundation operations. And we're pleased to welcome back Justin Sherman as our new part-time chief administrative officer. At the core of our 2017 success were 60 Trustee Society members. These brothers donated $1,000 or more in unrestricted funds and are, what I like to refer to as, the foundation of our Foundation. You can join this group with a one-time donation or by setting up a recurring donation of as little as $84 per month. Of course, we offer other recurring gift options to fit your budget. We're excited about all we can do to support Delta Chi's educational and leadership development initiatives in 2018. Please consider a gift to help us continue our work for the future of Delta Chi. For more detailed information, please visit our website (www.dcef.org) for additional re- sources. We also encourage you to talk with your accountant, and our staff is also available to answer spe- cific questions. The most important thing to know is that the new law preserves the deductibility of gifts to your favor- ite charity, including the Delta Chi Educational Foundation. However, the standard deductions are being doubled, which has some groups concerned that fewer Americans will need to itemize their tax returns. Undoubtedly, there will be some fallout, but the Board of Direc- tors and staff are confident in our alumni, family, and friends continu- ing to support the Foundation. Most people donate from their hearts to causes they care about, like Del- ta Chi, regardless of tax benefits. Nonetheless, it is more important than ever to make a gift for an orga- nization that is close to your heart. TRUSTEE SOCIETY EXPERIENCE: An Exclusive, and Unforgettable, Opportunity for Our Most Loyal Donors! A s a subset of Convention, the DCEF has identified a new way to thank our Trustee Society donors, with an unforgettable experience. The TS Experience will be an exclusive opportunity to visit The Stanley Hotel (www.stanleyhotel.com) in Estes Park, Colorado, site of Delta Chi's famous 1929 Convention where we abolished Hell Week. Take a walking tour, break bread together, enjoy a cocktail in the famous Whiskey Room, and take a picture on the same historic steps as our forebears (photo above). This excursion is our way of saying thank you and hopefully encourages more alumni to step up to the Trustee Society level.
