T his fall we recruited an amazing new pledge class, hosted some of the most fun and creative sisterhood events, and went above and beyond in philanthropy by reaching out to our community and inviting people to our home. PHILANTHROPY In September, we hosted Moonball on campus at the MizzouRec and had more than 15 teams from on-campus organizations participate. This year, the Alpha Delta Chapter has raised more than $6,000 for Girls on the Run. We also invited the girls from Girls on the Run in Columbia to come to the house for a sisterhood event with us. We had snacks and desserts and painted canvases with the girls that they later sold in an auction to help raise money for their local team in Columbia. Members from every grade level attended the event and we had a great time meeting the girls before their 5K in November. In November, more than 200 members from our chapter volunteered for the Girls on the Run 5K. We had women participating at the check-in/ set-up/clean-up station, the happy hair and water station as cheerleaders and running buddies, and we even had six women as coaches who had worked with the girls weekly for the entire semester leading up to the 5K. Even though it was a very cold morning, we had so much fun seeing the joy and excitement on the young girls faces while inspiring them to be the best they can be. The week following the Girls on the Run 5K race, we invited the girls over to the house to watch the Disney movie Frozen with us. We couldn't think of a better way to reward these girls for all of their hard work than to relax and reflect on how much they had accomplished this semester with our sisters. This semester we also enjoyed participating in other on-campus philanthropy events. Annalise Ruzicka '15, the outgoing Panhellenic delegate, participated in Pi Beta Phi's Haircuts for Cause and donated over 10 inches to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths Project. Many of our freshmen and sophomore women made teams for Pi Kappa Alpha's gingerbread house contest benefitting True North Columbia, and we won. The entire chapter enjoyed participating in Delta Sigma Phi's Dog Days benefitting the Central Missouri Humane Society. It was an awesome opportunity to take a break from class and hang out with rescue dogs. Lastly, on April 7, our chapter will be participating in MizzouThon, a 13.1-hour dance marathon that supports programs at the MU Children's Hospital. We have the privilege of sponsoring a miracle family with three children this year, so we'll be inviting them over to the house for a night of fun and games and providing painting activities, bubbles, hula hoops, and snacks! SISTERHOOD EVENTS We started off the semester with our first-ever Girls Night Out event, Diosa de Luna. It was hosted at Midway Expo Center and we had a bonfire, hayride, s'mores, hot cocoa, and famous country artist from Nashville, Tennessee, John King, came to play a set for us! This was a great bonding experience for all of the girls and it was a perfect fall night. Everyone dressed in their flannels and cowboy boots and we line-danced the night away. Big/little reveal was such a huge success this year. The sophomore pledge class could hardly contain their excitement waiting at the bottom of the stoop for their new littles. It was great to see all the love our sisters have for each other. Each month we hosted a sisterhood event and had a great turnout. We went to the pumpkin patch and participated in trick or treating in Greek town. We also made blankets with our sister sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, and had a holiday cookie decorating night before finals. To end the semester, 50 members from all four pledge classes attended a Blues game in Saint Louis. Even though the Blues lost, we all had so much fun.
