T
he Affiliated House Corporation (AHC) has
been busy overseeing all aspects of the new
addition to and renovation of 808 Richmond.
We have completed soil tests, pre-construction tests and
measurements, started fundraising, hired a decorator, begun
assessing the future interior design for the chapter house
from top to bottom, begun the inventory of the contents, and
inquired about packing and storage of the contents. We are
always looking to the near, as well as distant, future of our
beloved chapter and house.
Everyone we have hired to move this project forward is
aware of our bond of sisterhood since our beginning in May
1921. With that in mind, we will keep some of the favorites:
the front steps and columns, the curved staircase inside the
front door, and the general charm of the current house.
We will also add so much more: a large dining/chapter
room, numerous study rooms, a library, an exercise room,
outside patios and sundecks, an elevator, larger closets in
all the bedrooms, and more efficient bathrooms (all ADA
compliant). To note: the chapter house will be closed
from May 2018-August 2019. We are looking forward to
2021 when we will all gather in Columbia and celebrate
100 years of Alpha Delta of Gamma Phi Beta.
Our annual AHC meeting will be on Sunday, April
29. We will also hold the Senior Rite of Passage
and Groundbreaking Ceremony. Please see page 4
for more information and RSVP to christyehren@
gmail.com by April 15.
We are in search of an alumna who would like to serve as
treasurer for the board. Contact me, Cindy Wood '77, or Shelley
Roither '85, our current treasurer, at shelley.m.roither@ehi.com for
questions or information about the position.
Love in IIKE,
