W ayne County was born out of agriculture. And agriculture is still an important part of life in the county. To showcase agriculture here, there will be an Ag Expo March 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the new Maxwell Center. It will be the first event to be held there, and will coincide with the grand opening of the center. Coordinating the Ag Expo is Jennifer Johnson, applied animal science instructor at Wayne Community College, along with members of the Carl Best Leadership program. She hopes there will be anywhere from 60 to 70 exhibits at the expo. There will be agriculture-related businesses, farm equipment and more. Some of the exhibits already confirmed for the Ag Expo include Ag Carolina, Aycock Tractor, Baker Pipe, Atlantic and Southern Equipment, Butterball, Case Farms, Coker Feed Mill, First Citizens, Goldsboro Builders, Goldsboro Milling, Hog Slat, Holly Grove Goat Dairy and North Carolina Forest Services. Also, North Carolina Pork Council, North Carolina State Grange, Odom Farming, Secret Garden Winery, University of Mount Olive, Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, Wayne County Extension and Community Association, Wayne County Public Library and Wayne County Master Gardeners are confirmed.
