TAU TALES The newsletter for alumnae and friends of Tau Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi at the University of Kansas kualphadeltapi.com Tau Sisters Reunite for House Dedication and Azure Blue Gala On November 11, 2017, more than 200 collegians and alumnae descended upon 1600 Oxford Road to celebrate an event years in the making: the exterior renovation of KU's Alpha Delta Pi Chapter House. Founded at the University of Kansas in 1912, the current Chapter House has served as a home for Tau since the 1950s. Following recent updates to the house's interior, generous donations from alumnae across the country helped the Tau Building Association undertake the biggest and most impactful update to date. In 2016, the project "Building Pride" was founded, and in spring 2017 contractors broke ground on renovations to the exterior, as well as an expansion and update of the house director's apartment. The summer long renovation updated the facade of the house to a more traditional Greek Revival look, including a large front porch and pillars along with new widows and shutters, a walkway, and landscaping, all of which were finalized in time for fall formal recruitment. "Everyone has been in awe of how the exterior renovation truly transformed the image of our house," said Tau Building Association President Liz Miller '07. "I've heard from many alumnae who have commented they would love to get a chance to live in the 'new' house." With the renovation complete, it was time to celebrate! To kick off the festivities, Tau collegians welcomed sisters, advisors, spouses and friends for refreshments and a tour of the Chapter House. Sisters from at least six different generations participated in a ribbon- cutting ceremony, took a firsthand look at the new brick walkway with their personalized bricks they purchased to help fund the renovation, and posed for photos. "The sisters I spoke with that day were beyond thrilled to see the many improvements we've made since 2012," said Alyssa Bernard '06, who coordinated the day. "They were glad to see the momentum we've built following the kitchen remodel." In the evening, Tau joined together again for the Azure Blue Gala held at The Oread hotel in Lawrence. Dressed in their best, sisters enjoyed time socializing and dancing. Silent and live auctions, as well as a wine pull, completed the evening. "My favorite moment was watching everyone on the dance floor," said Julie Neal Wilmoth '78. "People had a great time. It was a night for meeting new sisters and running into old friends. I hope sisters of all ages and stages of life got to experience the meaning of life-long sisterhood!" To purchase prints and download images from both events, visit http://goo.gl/BeZwd9.
