She is responsible for daily operations of the Medical Staff Office and the Continuing Medical Education program. Cornwell, who previously was Medical Staff Services Manager, joined Washington Regional in 2005 as a Quality Management Coordinator and later served as executive assistant in the Administration office. She earned an associate's degree in computer technologies at Northwest Technical Institute and achieved designation as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist from the National Association for Medical Staff Services. She is a member of the National Association for Medical Staff Services and the Arkansas Association for Medical Staff Services. Roy earns certification in Health Information and Management Systems SPECIAL TO NWA DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE Merri Roy, BSN, RN-BC, CPHIMS, Clinical Informatics Coordinator at Washington Regional Medical Center, recently earned designation as a Certified Professional in Health Information and Management Systems. CPHIMS is a professional certification program for experienced healthcare information and management systems professionals. Roy earned this credential by meeting certain eligibility guidelines and passing a nationally administered exam. Roy, who joined Washington Regional in 2013, earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Baylor University. She has attained certification in Nursing Professional Development and Nursing Informatics. At Washington Regional, she coordinates the Clinical Informatics efforts for health professionals to ensure quality patient care documentation. Sprouse achieves certification as Lactation Consultant SPECIAL TO NWA DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE Brandi Sprouse, BSN, RN, IBCLC, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurse at Washington Regional's Women and Infants Center, recently achieved certification as a lactation consultant through International Board Certified Lactation Consultants. IBCLC is an independent credentialing organization for professionals who provide breastfeeding education and guidance. As a lactation consultant at Washington Regional, which participates in the Exclusive Breastfeeding perinatal core measure as defined by the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care, Sprouse provides support to new moms by teaching breastfeeding preparation classes before the baby's birth, individual breastfeeding education while the mom is in the hospital and continued counseling after the family returns home. Sprouse, who has been with Washington Regional since 2004, earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Arkansas.
