36 THE MAXWELL CENTER The Maxwell Regional Agricultural and Convention Center, a partnership with the County of Wayne and the City of Goldsboro, will be branded and marketed as The Maxwell Center and is on schedule to open March 1, 2018 with a celebratory, event filled weekend. The facility will consist of two different indoor wings plus additional outdoor areas. Built beside Wayne Community College at 3114 Wayne Memorial Drive. The 66,000 square foot facility will house local agriculture agencies in the East Wing including: Cooperative Extension, Wayne Soil and Water, and USDA Farm Service Agency. The West Wing will feature flexible rental space including a 14,500 square foot ballroom which will seat up to 1,500+ theatre style and 800+ at round tables. There are also five classrooms, a catering kitchen, pre- function space lobbies, and a 10,000 square foot outdoor courtyard. Also on the campus will be 600 parking spaces, a greenhouse and the Ag Carolina Farm Credit Farmers Market. The Maxwell Center will be able to host a variety of events and activities including consumer shows which may offer a hands-on experience with the newest cars, boats, or home goods; conferences, conventions, trade shows, charity fundraisers, school or family reunions, awards banquets, wedding receptions, meetings, trainings, and any get-together you need. Available for private or public functions, the venue offers a great space for the community to come together to meet, share, worship, dine, or celebrate. The county project is being made possible from local, state, and private funds. Many local agriculture businesses have given significant funds to assist with this project. The Maxwell Family, owners of Goldsboro Milling Company and Butterball Turkeys have the sponsored the naming rights for the facility.
