Publisher’s Note The results are in ... Verification Council. The CVC is to the magazine industry F what the Arbitron ratings are to the radio industry and the Neilsen ratings are to television. The CVC spent almost one year interviewing readers and verifying our distribution numbers. We’re happy to report that the results are fantastic. You can visit our Web site for the full report, but I’d like to share a few highlights here. The CVC reports that: • 93.5 % of our target audience regularly reads CityView • 61 % of readers purchase products from our advertisers • 84 % of these readers are between the ages of 25 and 54 years old • 58 % of readers keep the magazine for a month or more This is data that advertisers love to see and without them, we could not produce this fine product for Fayetteville. We have been blessed that our advertising has stayed steady even in this rocky economy. There is a myth in Fayetteville that our magazine is only for those who live in Haymount or VanStory Hills. This is, of course, completely false. Our February/ 12|June/July • 2009 or most businesses, the word audit conjures up dread, but not here at CityView. For a year, we eagerly anticipated an audit from the Circulation March issue was our most popular issue which focused on the military and included folks from all walks of life. We also devoted a special advertorial to the City of Spring Lake. As a result, several of the featured businesses attracted new clients and purchased future advertisement. The CVC audit shows that, on average, 78,000 people in and around Fayetteville, Cumberland County and Fort Bragg read each new issue. There are approximately 22,000 people living in Haymount and VanStory. If every single man, woman and child read CityView (and we’d be thrilled if that were so) it would only account for a little more than one-fourth of our readers. Fayetteville is on the cusp of greatness as a city. Every major city in North Carolina has a glossy lifestyle magazine. Our audit shows that Fayetteville has one of the better ones. Please thank our advertisers by supporting their businesses so we can keep CityView for years to come. Our goal is to tell stories that you will not read elsewhere and show the positive side of our community. Thank you for all your prayers and support.CV Marshall Waren, Publisher
