Business Focus The Trophy House and Clark Sporting Goods T he Trophy House and Clark Sporting Goods are two businesses that have been a vital part of the community for a combined 100 years of service. In January 2007, they merged to become the premier location for sporting goods and awards, and consolidated their showroom in The Trophy House building on Bragg Boulevard. Lt. Col. John V. Keefe opened The Trophy House in 1969. Cap Clark started Clark Sporting Goods in 1938 after a career in Major League Baseball. Jack Clark carried on the family tradition for many years and remains active to this day. “This was a good merger that made (L-R) Jamie Sykes, Jimmy Keefe, Jack Clark Business Focus sense,” says Jimmy Keefe, owner of The Trophy House. “We were both good companies separately but together, we are a great company.” They specialize in sporting goods, screen-printing and embroidery, team uniforms, high school letter jackets, banners and, of course, trophies, plaques and awards. “It is our goal to take care of the customer before the season starts,” says Jamie Sykes, president of Clark Sporting Goods, “and after the season is over.” The company recently expanded into Hope Mills with a new store on Rockfish Road. The Trophy House and Clark Sporting Goods: two companies, two locations and a single commitment to prompt, quality service at a good price. Fayetteville Children’s Clinic F ifty-five years ago, a tradition of caring began with the opening of Fayetteville Children’s Clinic in Haymount. Since that time, generations of families have experienced the commitment to quality health care provided by their doctors and staff. The office, nestled in the large oaks (L-R) Dr. William Kelly, Dr. Niveen Iskander and Dr. Horace Long 4 | Oct • Nov 2008 off Morganton Road, provides a quiet location for families to bring their children. The current generation of physicians – Dr. William Kelly, Dr. Niveen Iskander and Dr. Horace Long – are all board-certified pediatricians and are available Monday through Friday to see children for sick and well appointments. One physician is available on Saturday mornings for sick visits. The doctors at Fayetteville Children’s Clinic wholeheartedly believe in the time-honored traditions. In addition to caring for newborns after delivery, they still provide hospital care for older children if hospitalization becomes necessary. They are strong advocates for breastfeeding and have a lactation consultant available by appointment. In addition, a professionally-staffed laboratory can perform routine tests in the office. And, as always, nurses are available by phone to help with questions. The Web site can introduce you to the entire staff — the address is www.faychildrensclinic.com. To become a part of the tradition, call the office today. The staff is glad to answer questions regarding insurance and make an appointment for your child.
