26 www.thejewelrybook.com With 2018 upon us, what can we expect to see from Yael? To kick off the new year Yael will debut a new collection, called "Toi et Moi" - you and me in French. This is one more collection to add to our "what's your color?" Campaign, which focuses on emotionally connecting color gemstone designs to each fi ne jewelry lover out there. The "Toi et Moi" Collection features two- gemstone styles paired in a contemporary way. We used emeralds and opals paired with pavé diamonds, or geometric shaped mor- ganites accented with diamonds and paired with bezel set white opals. It's a new look for Yael Designs. It is young, and fresh, yet inspired by a classic romantic engagement ring style given to Empress Josephine by Napoleon, and later made famous by Europe's top 18th and 19th century jewelers: today it has just the right amount of edge. We cannot wait to hear what the Centurion buyers will think of it. Tell us about your design style? I love creating pieces with natural fl owing lines that romance the center stone. Every scroll of diamonds, every detail comes together in har- mony to highlight the beauty of the gem. And my core passion is to design with bold color. How do you want women to feel when they put on a Yael Design piece? When women wear our jewelry I want them to feel powerful. The Yael woman is bold, daring, confi dent and unafraid to stand out in a crowd. She is an extraordinary woman, and her jewelry style and personal color choices refl ect that. That's why we call our campaign "what's your color" What is your favorite design, and what makes it so special? That is a very diffi cult question. When I design I sit at my desk with the gem and I let it speak to me. It's as if the stone tells me what it wants me to do with it. My design process allows me to have a personal connection with each piece I create. Choosing one design as my favorite is impossible! What inspires you? I am inspired by things I see in my travels, nature, and art. I am especially inspired by artists like Antoni Gaudi, Salvador Dali and the surrealist move- ment. I love the radical imagination of these artists and how their work forces us to think beyond. I want my jewelry to do that; to force people to stop and think.
