Open house Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary It's the monthly open house for this nonprofit organization in St. Pauls, which cares for about 90 cats. Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast Crown Expo Center This will be the 25th year of the an- nual breakfast, which is held by the Fayetteville Cumberland County Min- isterial Council. The keynote speaker will be Charles H. Ellis, pastor of the 6,000-member Greater Grace Temple in Detroit and presiding bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. JANUARY 15 – FEBRUARY 25 Celebrating Heritage Rosenthal Art Gallery at Fayetteville State University African-American and African art from the private collection of the John and Hazel Hale-Biggers Estate will be on display in the Rosenthal Art Gallery with the opening reception being held on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 15). John Biggers, who was African- American, was a famous painter and print maker known best for his murals. Small Business Showcase Expo Crown Expo Center The first Small Business Showcase Expo will feature more than 200 exhibitors from Cumberland County and the sur- rounding area, with all kinds of prod- ucts and services. Friends of the Library present Jill McCorkle Pate Room at Headquarters Library Author Jill McCorkle, a native of Lum- berton, will talk about her works and writing process. Music of the New World St. John's Episcopal Church The Fayetteville Symphony Brass and Woodwind Quintets will perform Amer- ican works, including ones by Foster, Gershwin and Bernstein.
