im Ringer '60 #1040 passed away May 10, 2016, but
before he entered the Chapter Grand he forwarded his
Fraternity pin to Rich Florence '64 #1116. Brothers Ringer
and Florence played Butler football together, were brothers
in the bond, and served in the Navy on the same ship during
the height of the Vietnam War. They remained close friends
to the very end.
Brother Florence forwarded the Fraternity pin to us and we
forwarded it to Jim Phillippe '77 #1346, Indiana Gamma
Phi and cousin to Brother Ringer. It was decided that Brother
Phillippe would say a few words about Brother Ringer at the
reception before passing the Fraternity pin on to the deserv-
ing undergraduate determined by the Chapter's leadership.
We are proud to announce that Zach Bellavia '18 was se-
lected to receive Brother Rings Fraternity pin! To paraphrase
Brother Phillippe's words:
To say that Brother Ringer led a life of accomplishments
would be an understatement. He strived to be the very best at
whatever he did throughout each stage of his life's journey:
football captain in its first ever undefeated season at Butler,
NCAA Little All-American, Chapter president, Hilton U.
Brown Award recipient, medical school and doctor, 30-year
Navy veteran and captain, and much more. He never let his
achievements get the best of him. He was also soft-spoken,
kind to all, and never said a bad word about anyone.
God Bless Brother Ringer; the consummate Phi Delt! "In
