The young men of Alpha Sigma Phi have continued to demonstrate our philanthropic side through our partici- pation in sorority philanthropy events such as feeds and other events that help to fund organizations such as Make- a-Wish, Service for Sight, the Ronald McDonald House and Breast Cancer Awareness and Education. We have contributed to the philanthropic causes of our neighbors Delta Gamma, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Alpha Phi and many other sororities throughout the duration of the year and will continue to take part in sorority causes. Our week long Phight-for-Life took place in mid-No- vember. During this time we set up a funding page called CrowdChange that allowed alumni, parents and friends to donate to Strong Against Cancer, our house's philanthro- py cause. We hosted a soccer tournament for sororities raising $5000 throughout the week. Mu continues to be strong philanthropy partner with UW sorrorities By Philanthropy Chairman Kevin Ting '17 Photo by Will Wilson How Serving as Mu President Made Me a Stronger Leader In the past year, I have had the honor to lead Mu Chapter as president. While I was not sure initially what all to anticipate from the experience, I can now say that I have gained more than I ever imagined. My membership in Alpha Sigma Phi has helped me overcome issues in my personal life and provided me with another reason to succeed scholastically. Whenever I have needed help, advice or support, there was always someone to push and inspire me. My first priority, is to better the collegiate and fraternal experiences for the brothers. Whether that means providing support, guid- ance or something else, I gauge my success as presi- dent on the impact I make on active members. One of the most surprising things to peopleis how limited my leadership history is. My desire to strengthen our chapter house, and my sincerity toward Mu members, is what has garnered brothers' faith in me. The knowledge and tact I've gained since becoming president is a direct result of my interactions with the IFC, the Seattle community, and the Mu active chapter. I am confident my experiences in executive office will help me to continue to be successful in all aspects of my life. Aside from burgeoning leadership, I have learned how to interact with a variety of people in various settings—something that had been especially chal- lenging for me, given my occasional stubbornness. Because of many trials and tribulations, I now under- stand the importance of thinking things through before taking action. For this reason and countless others, I am so glad to have had the opportunity to serve as HSP. I have further developed relationships with several Mu members. By becoming increasingly invested in the success of my chapter brothers, and as a result of some seeking me out for guidance, I have gotten a glimpse of the brotherhood that many individuals will never get to see. What I have found, is that our men are remark- ably in-tune with one another; whether they express their love for each other explicitly or implicitly, the desire to help each other is indicative of our chapter house's culture. I began my presidency with a household of friends, I am completing my service with a household of family. By Sean Kron '16 MESSAGE FROM OUTGOING CHAPTER PRESIDENT Photo by Will Wilson
