Inside Fayetteville NOVEMBER 23 "A Dickens Holiday" From 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Downtown Fayetteville, the clocks will roll back to Victorian times, Ebenezer Scrooge and the ghost of Jacob Marley will roam the streets, and the good folks of our fair city will stroll and sing Christmas carols, while sipping hot cider and eating gingerbread, before partaking in the stunning candlelight proces- sional and a fireworks display over the Market House. This year Gerald Dickens, the great-great grandson of Charles Dickens, will perform "A Christmas Carol" and "Mr. Dickens is Coming". NOVEMBER 24-25 "The Heart of Christmas Show" A Broadway-style production with something for everyone. This fast- paced show beautifully portrays the meaning of Christmas in song and danc. It is a Fayetteville tradition with proceeds going to help sick and abused children. The Crown Theater. Information: www.heartof- christmasshow.com/ DECEMBER 1 Hope Mills Christmas Festivities Start your day with Hope Mills' annual Breakfast with Santa from 8:30 until 11 a.m. at Hope Mills Parks and Recreation Center then watch the town's Christmas Parade down Main Street. The parade will begin at Hope Mills Municipal Park and will end at Hope Mills Middle School. Finally, enjoy the Festival of Lights at Hope Mills Lake begin- ning at 5:30 p.m., where the town's Christmas tree will be lit and there will be Christmas prayer, carols, hot chocolate, cookies, hayrides and visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus. DECEMBER 2 "The Nutcracker" The North Carolina State Ballet's full production of "The Nutcracker" comes to the Crown Center for a 3 p.m. performance. Directed by Char- lotte Blume, the cast of 60 dancers and actors will bring the familiar story and music to life. Information: www.atthecrown.com. DECEMBER 2 Holiday Jubilee A December tradition at the 1897 Poe House, Holiday Jubilee includes musical events, tours of the house decorated for Christmas, a craft workshop and cooking demonstra- tions on the 1902 stove. DECEMBER 6 Christmas Tree Lighting Kickoff Christmas with the Lighting of the Christmas Tree at the Main Post Parade Field at Fort Bragg at 5 p.m.. This annual event includes the lighting of the Christmas Tree, light refreshments, kid bouncers, a climbing wall and an appearance by Santa. DECEMBER 6-16 "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" A perennial Christmas classic that gets better each year. Information: www.cfrt.org; 910.323.4233. DECEMBER 8 Musical Holiday Enjoy a mix of music from Leonard Bernstein's popular "West Side Story" and selections from the Broadway blockbuster "Les Misera- bles". DECEMBER 8 Rotary Christmas Parade The Annual Rotary Christmas Pa- rade will make its way down Person Street to the Market House and on to Hay Street, ending at the Rail- road Station. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. and last about two hours in Downtown Fayetteville. DECEMBER 11 Candlelight Loft Tours Discover the best in urban design and experience Downtown Fay- etteville's style of living, decorated for the holiday season.
