as a leadership development opportunity for brothers. We are also hosting a workshop at the Healthy Husker's event to raise awareness on the harmful effects of alcohol. Our chapter advisor, Kyle Bruss '97, is hosting a resume workshop for members to learn resume building tips. Throughout the semester, we will host Laurie Bellows, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, and other campus leaders at our beautiful new home during Monday night dinners. Thankful for Alumni Support We thank the alumni for their time and donations throughout the duration of the renovation. See more photos on page 1! T he men of Gamma Theta had a successful start to the fall semester by welcoming 39 new brothers, 16 of which are on academic scholarship. Our recruitment chairmen, TJ Mulgrue '14, Taylor Richards '14, and Jake Richardson '16, dedicated their time during the summer months to focus on recruiting the strongest pledge class on campus. We are thrilled to call the 2017 pledge class our brothers. Focused on True Merit This semester, our main focus is to assist our freshman brothers by guiding them toward success through our new membership education Chapter President Sam Jensen '14 accepts the inaugural Sam Foltz Award from Dr. Juan Franco and Foltz's parents, Jill and Gerald Foltz. STRENGTHENING THE BROTHERHOOD Gamma Theta Determined to Make a Difference program. It is our goal to help mold these new brothers by teaching them the importance of True Merit. We hope through these teachings to produce excellent candidates for potential leadership opportunities, such as Order of Omega, Mortar Board, and Innocent's Society. The chapter aims to continue being leaders among leaders at UNL and in all future endeavors. With high expectations, we are excited to see what our newest members can accomplish during their time with Gamma Theta. Philanthropic Endeavors In September, the chapter volunteered at Robinette Farms, where members donated more than 100 hours of service picking the toxic weed called hemp dogbane so cows may safely graze. We plan to partner with Robinette Farms for future service projects and events. Additionally, we hosted our signature event, Tau Tacos for Texas, which raised more than $5,000 for the American Red Cross's Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Excited for Chapter and University Events With the semester in full swing, the chapter plans on utilizing UNL's challenge course Members at Robinette Farms for their service project in September.
