By Jackie Deal Do you sit around and mope: there's nothing to do in Quartzsite? If you're not into rocks and gems and four wheeling- then there's mu- sic-lots of it. We can't cover it all but let's try. Thanksgiving is coming and the evening before the big day the Quartzsite Improvement Assoc (QIA) is having a Thanksgiving din- ner with music provided by The Travelers band. Two members of the band aren't here yet, but the four who are here make plenty of music. Dinner will be at 5pm and the music starts about 6pm. Since we've men- tioned The Travelers band (one of my favorites), they will start playing for dances at the Senior Center on December 5th. On the subject of dances: Skyhawk will play at the QIA on November 18 and again at the Senior Center No- vember 24 and December 1. They have a busy schedule that appears in the Desert Messenger. Barefoot and Boots will be playing at the QIA November 21 and De- cember 2. New to the music scene is the Quartzsite City Limits show hosted by Bonnie and Joe McInturff. The fi rst two shows were a great suc- cess. Coming up November 20 and November 27, Ed Bonham of The Travelers and Buck Ellerd from Se- quim, Washington will entertain. A special feature of these shows is the fi rst half hour when three vari- ety acts have a chance to perform. Bonnie and Joe welcome music, skits, comedy etc. for ten minute opportunities to be seen and heard. "Newbies" as well as "old hands" can sign up by 5:30pm or call Bon- nie at 509-306-0254. The shows are at the Riggles Event Center on the East end of town. Be sure to save December 12 for the QIA's Band Scram hosted by Conra Marsh. Last year's event was a tre- mendous success.
