2 CA P S I A fter connecting with Pepperdine SigEps at the chapter's 20 Year Celebration in February as well as brothers from across the nation at the fraternity's National Conclave in August, CA Psi has been building momentum with its new Five-Year Plan and Scorecard. To become Pepperdine's premier student organization—Greek and non-Greek— SigEp will be steadfast in its commitment to building balanced men by increasing the chapter's added value in four areas: university, community, spirituality, and fraternity. Here are a few highlights of the progress made thus far. Dedicated to Helping Kids This year kicks off our new philanthropic strategy, to focus on helping youth and programs that help youth in the Malibu and greater Los Angeles area. Beginning with Step Forward Day, Pepperdine's annual event, SigEp alumni, volunteers, active members, friends, and families served the surrounding communities in a variety of ways: building new classrooms, working in homeless shelters and soup kitchens, renovating churches, refurbishing homes, and more. This year we launched a new partnership with Boys & Girls Club of Malibu, helping with the organization's Webster Clubhouse grand opening, donating a professional basketball hoop to support BGCM's youth development activities and supporting the Malibu Half Marathon and 5K Run / Walk which benefits BGCM. There's so much more good news in the works which we will be excited to share in the next newsletter, including our relationship with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and our chapter's annual SigEp Bounce event. Restoring Our History Our AVC and Chapter E-board have begun a research project to locate CA Psi's treasured assets so that they may be centrally stored and preserved moving forward. If you know the whereabouts of any SigEp, Tau Rho Sigma, or Phi Phi Phi composites, please share any information at sigepavc.org/contact. Opening the Renaissance Members of Tau Rho Sigma and Phi Phi Phi fraternities that graduated in good standing with their organizations are invited to apply for the SigEp Renaissance of Brotherhood. This program will help pre-charter brothers experience the rituals and leverage the resources of our national fraternity. Undergraduates and alumni celebrate 20 years of CA Psi last February. COMMITTED TO BUILDING BALANCED MEN Progress with University, Community, Spirituality and Fraternity Showcase Values Energizing Recruitment and Development After a series of successful Fall Recruitment events, we're excited to welcome 15 new members to SigEp. As these brothers begin their journey with our fraternity, we have taken full advantage of our groundbreaking Balanced Program as well as advancements in local programming and new tools provided by headquarters—including the new BMP app. Since our chapter's chartering, we have leveraged the Balanced Man Scholarship and moving forward we will be working to maximize the total number of scholarships by increasing from one to three awarded per school year. In conjunction, to remain current with undergraduate beliefs and behaviors as well as to employ contemporary recruiting best practices, our chapter will be instituting an annual Spring recruitment platform starting in 2018. Our obligation to Sigma Phi Epsilon and commitment to Building Balanced Men have never been stronger.
