The winner of 15 Grammy Awards will rejoin the series when it starts its 14th season early in 2018, and it will be her third tour of duty on the NBC singing competition. She'll return to a panel that still includes Adam Levine and Blake Shelton (as usual), but it also will have a newcomer in Kelly Clarkson, becoming a full-timer on the show for the first time after having been the key adviser for the "Knockout" rounds of its current season. Keys has a good track record on "The Voice," since Chris Blue — whom she chose for her team in Season 12 — ended up winning that edition of the program. Series star Tim Allen has been quite vocal in stating his belief that his po- litical views led to the end of the still-well-rating sitcom after six seasons, but ABC main- tains it simply had decided to move away from the comedy block that long had led off its Friday-night schedule. Indeed, the network has done that by scheduling "Once Upon a Time," "Marvel's Inhumans" and the soon-to-return "Mar- vel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." there. Originating studio 20th Cen- tury Fox Television had tried to shop "Last Man Standing" to other networks after the ABC cancellation. Though it had ap- peared close to making a deal with Country Music Television (CMT) at one point, the cost ultimately proved too prohib- itive for that cable channel. The fact that the series wasn't owned and produced by ABC also could have figured unto its demise, since broadcast networks have been going in that direction increasingly. The cast's contracts expired at the end June, so any effort to reunite them and revive the show now likely would be pricey. Q : What ever happened to "Flashpoint"? — Char- lene Acheson, Edgewater, Fla. A : The 2008-12 Canadi- an-made police drama — which included Enrico Col- antoni, Hugh Dillon and Amy Jo Johnson among its stars — had a healthy run on both sides of the border, ran its natural course and ended after five seasons.
