THE ZETA PHI PAGE 2 CARRYING ON TRADITIONS OF SUCCESS Zeta Phi Excels in Service and Campus-Wide Activities Z eta Phi Chapter continues its long legacy of success in a wide variety of areas. We ended the spring 2017 semester with second place in grades among all IFC fraternities. We finished with a 3.26—well above the all-Greek and all-university campus GPAs. We look forward to a return to first place this fall! .1K TO BENEFIT TRUE NORTH Philanthropy Chairman Alex Minter '20 worked hard to plan Zeta Phi's first-ever .1K benefiting True North, a local shelter for victims of domestic violence. This event happened in late October, and was open to all members of campus and included games and food for all. WELCOMING 40 NEW MEMBERS We are happy to report that 40 young men from all over the country have decided to be a part of our brotherhood. This year's class was the result of many hours of hard work put in by Recruitment Chairman James Travis '18 and many other members of the chapter! HELPING HANDS We are excited to welcome into our home students who participate in the Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbia to help them decorate pumpkins and gingerbread houses as we move through the holiday seasons. Thanks to Nathan May '19 for setting up this service opportunity. ZETA PHI CAMPUS RECOGNITION We are excited to announce the following brothers have been recognized on campus for their accomplishments: Spencer Stapf '19, who is a member of the Rockin' Against Multiple Sclerosis steering committee; Davis Hurth '19 and Jimmy Ignaczak '19, who have been selected to lead Mizzou Alternative Winter Break service trips this upcoming winter; and Jack Schimpf '18, who was revealed in April as a member of the QEBH Secret Society. And that is just to name a few! HONORING OUR ALUMNI We had the great honor of welcoming Admiral Daniel Mckinnon '56 and many other alumni back this fall for Admiral Mckinnon's induction into the Zeta Phi wall of fame. We want to thank all of our alumni for their continued support of our beloved fraternity. Yours in _kai_, Jack Schimpf '18 President jack.schimpf@missouribeta.com Drew Rogers '19 with UM System President Dr. Mun Choi as Drew is named UM System Entrepreneur of the Year. Jack Schimpf '18 and Spencer Stapf '19 accept the chapter's award for Academic Excellence. Brothers celebrate after beating Sigma Chi in the third annual Slapshot on Cancer held in the spring. HONORING A HERO Beta Recognizes Paul Palmer '59 for His Military Service O n September 22, about 50 Beta Theta Pi brothers and spouses gathered to recognize Paul Palmer '59's service to our country. Paul was a Navy pilot who flew off the Enterprise carrier during the Vietnam War. In several of his bombing missions over North Vietnam, his plane was hit by anti-aircraft artillery. Paul received the Navy Commendation medal for his service. The event was hosted by Dave Knight '59 and Bill Kircher '60 and was held at the Country Club of Missouri. Congratulations, and thank you for your service, Brother Palmer
