Page 5 Phi Kappa Psi Texas Alpha I n 2005, Texas Alpha was in the process of designing a new house at 2401 Longview. Then hurricanes Katrina and Rita ravaged the Gulf Coast and dramatically increased the cost of construction, thus delaying our plans. Fast forward 12 years and we have finally completed the magnificent house which you must see to believe. I hope you take time to tour it. The leaders working on the house in 2005 persevered through the completion of the present house. While it has been an arduous and time-consuming labor of love for them, it is time for those leaders to pass the baton to a new group of energetic leaders. They have earned a rest. They set a fast pace and hopefully the new leadership can maintain it. In August, I accepted leadership of the Texas Alpha House Board which will see to the maintenance and preservation of the physical house. Our goal is to maintain the quality of the house and retire the debt without burdening the undergraduates. I was there at the note burning for 2401 Longview and hope to be there for the note burning at 2501 Nueces. With generous alumni, we hope to shorten the mortgage term. The fraternity needs your time, your talent, and your donations. Please reflect on what the fraternity has done for you in your lifetime and consider getting involved so we can have a positive impact on the undergraduates and their future. When a pledge grows up to own a company with annual sales of $15 million that employs 75 people, we all share in his success. We were a part of his formative years and we owe it to the next generation to help them develop as productive, capable, respectful, and dependable men of Phi Kappa Psi. We have a vested interest in their success. Remember they will be paying for our social security! And finally, when you see one of the dedicated leaders of the past 15 years, thank them (and their spouse) for all their effort and sacrifice. It could not have been done without them.
