I'm Mary Ann, and this is my healing place.
When Mary Ann Smith fell and broke her rib, she was covered with bumps and bruises.
But as she healed, one large bump under her breast wouldn't go away. Tests revealed
a cancerous lump as big as a tennis ball. Having delivered all four of her kids at Marin
General Hospital, Mary Ann felt confident choosing the Marin Cancer Institute for her
treatment. She received a complete continuum of care, beginning with chemotherapy
to shrink the tumor as much as possible before surgery. Then came a mastectomy,
followe
d by radiation to eradicate any errant cancer cells. A year after her surgery,
Mary Ann returned to Marin General Hospital for breast reconstruction using advanced
oncoplastic surgery techniques. Today, Mary Ann is cancer free and can often be found
on her favorite beach, tapping into the healing power of nature.
