The attitude of our members is one that seeks constant improvement in all aspects of fraternity. AWARDS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS This past year we have been recognized as an outstanding chapter, both at the university level and nationally. At the Kansas State Interfraternal Awards hosted by Greek Affairs, we came home with the Dean's Award, which means we scored higher than 90% in compliance with their policies. We also received the Most Improved Chapter Award. Nationally with ΣΑΕ, we did extremely well, bringing back four awards: The Chapter Achievement Award, the Membership Education Award, Elliot Gassman '19 earned the Outstanding Treasurer Award, and, John Hatfield II '77 received the Outstanding Chapter Advisor Award. ACADEMICS Academics remains our top priority. This is best reflected by our continued presence in the top five in grades out of all the fraternities on campus. Our Spring 2017 GPA last semester was 3.341, with 20% of our members acheiving acheiving a 4.0, firmly putting us in fourth place among all 26 fraternities and well ahead of the all-university average, which stood at 2.924. RECRUITMENT The house is full, overflowing in fact. At this time last year, we had 58 members living in-house, which was considered capacity. After the recent initiation of 19 new members, including two legacies, that number now stands at 61 and we are currently trying to find space for more. Our recruitment process truly distinguishes Kansas Beta from the rest of the Greek system at Kansas State. Each man is evaluated according to a comprehensive grid system, which ensures only the men of highest quality are welcomed into our home. The benefits of this system are easily visible. The new member class is made up of a diverse group of young men that exemplify the characteristics we value. Through the leadership of the upperclassmen, this new member class will learn how to be successful in college and how to embrace the True Gentleman. NEW HOUSE MOM I'm pleased to announce that Mary Mignano has accepted our position as housemother of Kansas Beta for the 2017- 18 school year. Mary is a K-State graduate holding both a bachelors and masters of science in education. Mary was a student athlete and a member of the women's volleyball team throughout her years at KSU. She spent the majority of her career working with young people as a science and physics teacher at Junction City High School. Mary is continuing her involvement with youth as a collegiate massage therapist–– mostly with KSU track and field athletes. Mary moved into the chapter house as her permanent residence in August 2017. ALUMNI SUPPORT The house itself has never looked better, with the addition of numerous alumni-funded improvements over the summer of 2017, including a brand-new, state-of-the-art kitchen. We started the year with the cleanest and the most impressive chapter house on the Kansas State campus. A sincere thank- you to our Kansas Beta alumni for your continued involvement and generous support. Recruitment continues to be the critical lifeblood of the chapter. If you are aware of any potential new members, please contact me or Recruitment Chairmen Dane Stewart '18 at danes@ksu.edu or Matt Worley '18 at mattworley00@ gmail.com. Overall, our Kansas Beta chapter house has never been stronger nor our aims higher. I am deeply honored to serve as EA of a house so beloved by its membership both past and present.
