Cumberland Oratorio Singers Holy Trinity Episcopal Church This is the first of three "We Sing to…" concerts by this local symphonic chorus and it's entitled "We Sing to Relate." The concert will showcase the American composer, American men and women and the innovation and creativity of the American people. OCTOBER 21-22 Fayetteville Comic Con Crown Expo Center This annual event is billed as a gather- ing of geeks, nerds and just plain fans of comics, toys, gaming, anime, sci-fi, horror and – of course – cosplay. There will be special guests from the worlds of comics and popular culture, as well as video game tournaments, demon- strations of martial arts and sword play and much more. Pumpkin Carving and Halloween Dash LeClair's General Store This is a BYOP event – Bring Your Own Pumpkin – but carving and decorating supplies will be provided. Free face- painting will be available and the family- friendly Halloween Dash starts at 4 p.m. There will be both 5k and 1-mile op- tions. OCTOBER 25-27 Night Tours and Halloween Revels at the Historic Poe House Poe House Don't let the thought of Halloween scare you away from this family-friendly event at the historic Poe home beside the Museum of the Cape Fear. Actors with the Gilbert Theater will portray members of the Poe household and family friends preparing for a night of Halloween revels in 1917 during World War I. You'll witness short play vignettes and experience early 20th century cul- tural norms, music and poetry. For information, check museumofthe- capefear.ncdcr.gov OCTOBER 26 – NOVEMBER 12 Wait Until Dark Cape Fear Regional Theatre Your spine may tingle at this classic play best known for the 1967 film adapta- tion starring Audrey Hepburn. Set in an apartment in 1960s Greenwich Village, a con man lays a trap to ensnare a blind woman as he attempts to reclaim a doll stuffed with illegal drugs. When his plan goes awry, things turn deadly. Check cfrt.org for information. OCTOBER 27 Zombie Walk and Fourth Friday Downtown Fayetteville Time for all you zombies to show your faces and then to totter, shuffle or lurch along together as part of downtown's popular annual Zombie Walk. It's a family-friendly event, open to zombies young and old. A pre-walk party will start at 6 p.m. and the walk will begin around 8. There will also be live music and the usual Fourth Friday fun times with downtown merchants. OCTOBER 27, 28, 31 Rocky Horror Picture Show Cape Fear Regional Theatre Have you been hankering to do the Time Warp again? Or for the first time ever? Experience this classic audience- participation film that's a rock-musical sendup of horror and sci-fi movies. The theater will be airing it three nights – at midnight Friday and Saturday and at 7:30 and 10:30 p.m. on Halloween.
