Families need well-trained, highly qualif ied pro- fessionals to care for t heir children, which means t here is a need for caring, professional educators w it h a special sk illset to g uide young children t hrough t heir f irst educational env ironment. A n early childhood education online associate degree lets students who are new to t he f ield explore it w it h minimal f inancial commitment. FTCC offers an Early Childhood online associ- ate degree. Making things even easier for poten- tial students, the institution accepts applications year-round. The five-semester, 64-credit program requires that applicants have a high school di- ploma or placement test equivalent. Graduates of the program will find plent y of job opportunities, including working in childcare services, private households, elementar y and secondar y schools, Head Start programs, religious organizations and other school-age programs. The courses offered in the ECE associate program include two practicums, child development I and II, child guidance, class- room management and active play. W hile FTCC is accredited by t he Sout hern As- sociation of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, t he Early Childhood A AS program is accredited separately by t he National Association for t he Education of Young Children.
