Coming home to work will be the theme of the upcoming Rutherford County multi-sector job fair. Scheduled for Wednesday, October 4, 1PM–5PM, the job fair will showcase over 20 local employers who are looking to hire for a broad range of positions. Sectors represented will include healthcare, human services, manufacturing, maintenance, public safety, retail, utilities, as well as several temporary agencies that act as the hiring agents for multiple employers. "The employment options are plentiful in Rutherford County," states Brandon Ruppe, Business Service Representative for Isothermal Planning and Development. "The time has never been more right for those who are tired of the costs and daily grind of commuting. We are saying 'Come home to Rutherford County' ". While the focus may be on those working out of county, this large event is hoping to also reach those workers who may have been out of the job market for a time. President of Rutherford County Economic Development Tom Johnson states, "Jobs are coming back and for those residents who have been out of the job market, this will be a great opportunity". The event is a cooperative effort of the NCWorks Career Center, Isothermal Planning and Development, Economic Development, Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce Isothermal Community College, Isothermal Phi Beta Lambda and Isothermal Career Development Center. Those attending should bring 20 copies of their resume´ and come in interview- appropriate attire. For more information about the job fair, contact the NCWorks Career Center at 286-3042. Prior to the job fair, Isothermal Community College will offer free workshops on Sept. 22 and Oct. 2, both 1PM–4PM. These workshops will help attendees prepare a resume´ and learn strategies for making the most of an employment event. To register for one of the workshops, contact Karen Marshall, 395- 1408, kmarshall@isothermal.edu. See more on pages 12 and 13.
