4 4 T he Seabury Alumni Board is getting ready for the new school year with our new board, and our July meeting was the first with Kaylin Dillon '06 as president. We are still seeking new members from the classes of 2003, 2007, 2009, and 2012. Please contact Kaylin at kaylindillon@gmail.com. UPCOMING EVENTS We are planning to resume the alumni speaker series during the fall semester. It's a good way for current students to hear from graduates about their time at Seabury and life afterwards. BSAP is an integral part of Bishop Seabury Academy. Our mission is to support our school, faculty, and community. As part of the Seabury community, you are automatically a member of BSAP. We welcome your time and talents as we plan for multiple programs throughout the school year. There are a variety of simple volunteer opportunities with varying time obligations. Please consider joining a committee today! It's going to be a great year with BSAP! Won't you join us? BSAP is a great way to get to know the other parents at Bishop Seabury. Our monthly one-hour meetings are efficient and will not happen unless there is business to be discussed. We believe in a "many hands make light work" approach. Help plan an event for the kids where memories will be made, provide a creative touch to say thank you to teachers, or make that delicious breakfast casserole for which you are famous. There are so many ways to get involved with our group. Devon Kim Adrienne Karam BSAP President BSAP Vice President (785) 550-1201 BSAP_president@seaburyacademy.org Welcome NeW Seabury Staff W e have two new teachers joining our math department this year. Mr. Jeremy Smith earned his bachelor of arts degree from Hamilton College and his master of teaching degree from the University of Virginia, and has been teaching most recently at Worcester Academy in Massachusetts. Ms. Jacqueline Heim earned her bachelor of arts degree from Kansas State University and teaching certification from Dallas Baptist University, and she has been teaching at Humbolt High School in Kansas. In addition to teaching math classes, Ms. Heim is providing learning support to students. Last spring, students had the opportunity to work with both teachers and were very enthusiastic about these new additions to our math program. Our new assistant athletics director and teacher of health and P.E. is Mr. Brian Rios. Mr. Rios earned his bachelor of science degree from the University of Kansas and his master of education degree from Oral Roberts University. He began working with the girls' volleyball team this summer and they have really enjoyed getting to know him. As you know, Mr. Bryan will be deploying overseas with the National Guard at the end of first quarter. Mr. Anthony Howcroft is co- teaching with Mr. Bryan during the first quarter and taking over 7th and 9th grade science classes during Mr. Bryan's deployment. Mr. Howcroft comes to us with a bachelor of science degree from the University of Kansas. We are very grateful to Mr. Howcroft for joining our faculty for the next year. This fall, we are offering debate as an elective class taught by Mr. Michael Eisenstadt. Mr. Eisenstadt is presently a doctoral student in the Speech and Communications Department and a debate coach at the University of Kansas. Our debate students are very excited about their new coach. And, finally, you may see Mr. Eric Neuteboom on campus in the afternoons. Mr. Neuteboom is our new part-time facilities manager and will be coordinating campus maintenance and overseeing our lawn and janitorial services. We are very happy to have Eric on board.
