There's value in celebrating the accomplishments and successes of our institution and of our graduates. In a previous article, we talked about the importance of sharing our alumni success stories. We were reminded of the power of a story and the movement it generates because of the emotional connection it provides. When we gather and share our graduate success stories, we offer inspiration and encouragement to prospective students, current students, staff and our community. Sharing our alumni success stories causes a ripple effect — impacting our own institution, our community, and perhaps even our lawmakers and legislative leaders. e success of your graduates is a direct reflection of your institution's success. Sharing their inspiring stories really boils down to sharing the history and story of your school in a meaningful way. At Pima Medical Institute, we're celebrating our 45th year as an institution. In light of the recent downfall of so many schools in our sector, a 45th anniversary is a pretty astounding accomplishment! Following in the tradition of our 35th and 40th years, we recently published a 45th anniversary alumni success story book, "45 Years (1972-2017) — Alumni Success Stories: eir Stories, Our History." is book includes our vision, a brief history, photos, a timeline of our 17 campuses, as well as 50 alumni success stories representing all our programs. is book tells our story. It represents where we've been and where we're going. We're sharing this book with our employees, our employer partners and our community. But we haven't stopped there. We're also sharing it with our local, state, and national politicians and lawmakers. Our goal is to help policymakers understand the value that career education in schools like PMI brings to their communities. We all must be willing to take the time and effort to celebrate our milestones and share our successes to help others understand that we're preparing professionals and changing lives daily. JUNE GUDEMAN CONTRIBUTING WRITER June Gudeman is the alumni coordinator at Pima Medical Institute. She began just over 10 years ago, creating PMI's alumni program from the ground up. She focuses much of her efforts on gathering alumni success stories and creatively sharing them with prospective and current students, as well as the PMI staff and community at large. You can contact her at jgudeman@pmi.edu. In summary, let me encourage you to celebrate your milestones and your successes and look for ways to share them with your community! ere's incredible power in sharing stories. Facts can educate us, and theories provide understanding, but a story … a story moves us. To view the complete 45th anniversary alumni success book in flipbook format, go to alumni.pmi.edu/45th.
