to become the next "Mean Joe Greene." "He has really come on. He's gotten quicker and stronger. He had a really good offseason," Sutton said. "I expect him to be really, really good." Ninth-grader Alex Zuniga will rotate in at defensive tackle and Sutton envi- sions eighth-grader Jackson Boudrey contributing along the defensive front. "He should be able to play out there somewhere and help us out," Sutton said. Sutton wants some eighth-graders breaking into the defensive starting unit which keeps starters from having to go both ways. "We're going to have to have some eighth-graders decide they want to play, so we can be able to do that," Sutton said. Linebackers In the mix are: eighth-grader Trey Hill and ninth-graders Caleb Matthews and Haden Cox. Sutton said three eighth- grade linebackers are doing good: Caden Elsik, Miles Harvey and Alec Duncan. Secondary Cornerback Collin Hummel estab- lished coaches' confidence in his disci- pline early. "He understands his job is not to get beat deep," Sutton said. "He's usually where he's supposed to be and plays good technique." Zach Akeridge, Josh Cartwright, Andrew Wagoner and Parker Jones are all possibilities at cornerback. Sutton appreciates Jones' tendency to dish out hits, a trait which usually earns playing time on defense. "He'll tackle," Sutton said. Ninth-graders Ian Cartwright and Reis Reed switched from playing outside line- backers last year. Now both compete for playing time at free safety. Ninth-grader Jacob Jay and quarter- back Tate Sutton man the strong safety position. Proudly Supporting the Farmington Cardinals! 65 W.
