speed make him a really, good edge rusher. Adams calls Gray "a real point of strength for the Cardinals at defensive end." Senior Michael Sellers (5-10, 180) got hurt last year before the Cardinals played a game. He stayed with the program and returned to the lineup at the end of the season. Woods improved his stock by attending offseason camps. Junior Tony Mayo (6-1, 175) has a great first step and draws a lot of holding penalties due to his quickness. Carlson figures strongly in Adams' schemes at defensive tackle. A pair of big seniors, Stevens and Newman, help clog up the middle. Junior Jacob Rogers (5-10, 225) and Jaden Metcalf (6-0, 215) figure in. Linebackers Senior Jayden Goff (5-9, 180) had a good camp playing the strong side linebacker. Rominger concentrates on middle line- backer this season in the 4-3. "He's a middle linebacker with good size," Adams said. "We haven't had bodies, who look like him at middle linebacker for several years. He's a big, strong guy." Senior Jayden Carter (5-10, 155) moves up from safety to linebacker, a move Adams thinks will benefit him and the team. "He's not real big, but very, very phys- ical," Adams said. "He comes forward, delivers a blow. I'm pleased with that move. I think it helps him and it helps us." Junior Jacob Freeman (6-0, 220), senior Oskey, and junior Mark Dooly (5-10, 170) round out the corps. Defensive backs Senior Skylar Montez (6-1, 180) started at free safety as a sophomore earning All-Conference honors, which he repli- cated as a junior. For his senior season, Montez moves to strong safety, posturing him to make plays. "We feel like he plays better closer to the line of scrimmage," Adams said. "He's a big kid, very aggressive." Jowers switches to cornerback after playing safety during his junior year. A pair of seniors Avery King (6-0, 160) and Dylan Gustin (5-8, 160) have battled for the other safety spot. Gustin played a lot last year, but King challenges him. Juniors Hill and Swain, along with senior Waggle are working at safety. Sophomore Trace South impressed coaches with his tenac- ity. Our linemen also depend on teamwork. Our goal is safe, reliable, affordable electricity. Proud to be serving northwest Arkansas for 80 years.
