Quartzsite has indeed become a mecca to well over a mil- lion visitors during the town's annual shows and swap meets in January and February. From its humble begin- nings the now-massive Quartzsite show has grown to RV-epic propor- tions, with vendors offering every- thing from a Navajo rug to a new turbo-charged RV engine. Admission is free as is camping on the nearby government lands, where RVers claim a bit of dusty desert soil for their very own. Quartzsite gets HOT in the summer and folks are scarce when the tem- peratures top 110 degrees. In the winter though, when the town of a few thousand permanent residents swells to hundreds of thousands at a time (most in RVs), the temperature is typically mild with sunny skies, so if you show up bring shorts and suntan lotion. For more information about Quartzsite shows and events go to the Town of Quartzsite website at www.QuartzsiteAZ.org. New Quartzsite 150 Collectible MAP now available at many businesses in town for only $2! You can also purchase at the Business Chamber or Quartzsite Area Chamber & Tourism.
