Quartzsite is well-known for its many gem and mineral shows and year-round vendors of rocks, geodes, and treasures. Mines surround the area, and rock landscaping or "hard- scape" is commonplace in snowbird yards. Rockhound- ing is a favorite winter pas- time, and there are organiza- tions, such as the Roadrunner Gem and Mineral Club and the Quartzsite Metal Detecting Club, that have hunts, classes, club meetings and events. www.QuartzsiteAZ.org
