The Daily Star, Oneonta, N.Y., Friday, August 18, 2017 20 By lindsay Scharf TV Media Southern fare: While "Vanderpump Rules" is still raking in the viewers, Bravo presents a new spinoff series: "Vanderpump Rules: Jax and Brittany Take Kentucky" pre- mieres Wednesday, Aug. 23, and should tide fans over un- til season 6 of its parent se- ries premieres, likely some- time in November. As the title suggests, the new show follows Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright, an unlikely couple whose whirl- wind romance stole the hearts of many "Vanderpump Rules" viewers. Jax, a former model and drama-loving par- ty boy, fell in love with Britta- ny, a sweet southern belle who hopes to start a family, when they met at a Hooters restaurant, and the rest, as they say, is reality TV history. Turns out that history is still in the making, though. As they travel to Brittany's hometown and stay with her family on their farm, she in- troduces viewers to her loved ones, including her dad, her grandmother and her best friend. Jax, mean- while, struggles to learn the ins and outs of chores around the farm. While view- ers are treated to a more country-styled Jax (complete with cowboy hat, boots AND overalls!), there is evidence of growing tension between the two sweethearts. Brittany's family is a far cry from what Jax is used to, and they expect more conserva- tive behavior than he's likely to exhibit. Flash back: VH1 provides viewers with a blast from the past when its new reality se- ries "'90s House" premieres Tuesday, Aug. 22. Lance Bass of 'N Sync fame hosts as a group of millennials is put in a house equipped only with 1990s technology. This means no smartphones, no Wi-Fi and — horror of horrors — only dial-up internet. The young contestants must learn to adapt and figure out how to do things the old way (bring back the yellow pages!). There's a recent uptick in '90s nostalgia, and teenag- ers especially are fascinated by this now-retro decade — VH1 knows its audience well. Though the station was once geared towards music lovers and aired music vid- eos almost exclusively, it, like MTV, has found a great success in its original reality TV programming.
