TAU TALES Summer 2017 kualphadeltapi.com 2017 Chapter Executive Officers President Lauren Downie '14 Executive Vice President Ashley Hocking '14 Membership Education Vice President Rebecca Seldin '15 Recruitment and Marketing Vice President Ellena Siscos '14 Finance Vice President Abby Meyer '15 Director of Social Enrichment Liz Spooner '15 Panhellenic Delegate Kelly DeBrabander '15 Director of Standards Elle Little '15 Tau had an excellent start to 2017. Since fall semester, we welcomed 40 new officers into their respective roles and they immediately began planning for the year ahead. Additionally, 10 of these officers attended training sessions at the District Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas. It was a great weekend of sisterhood, learning, and fun! Tau Chapter also received several awards, including: 0% Accounts Receivable, Best Chapter Retreat, Philanthropy Excellence, and Total Member Education Excellence. Additionally, Tau was honored to have two Emerging Leaders: Marysa Bradshaw '15 and Kelly DeBrabander '15! The Chapter is incredibly proud of these awards and our sisters. On campus, Tau is continuing the standard of excellence set by years past. The Chapter maintained a Panhellenic total of 207 women. Academically, Tau remains a strong chapter within the Greek community. We are ranked sixth out of 13 Panhellenic chapters—ranking well above the all-Greek average of 3.25. Another highlight of spring semester was participating in the KU Dance Marathon. Tau women were the first to beat Alpha Tau Omega's fundraising efforts for the organization, even though this was to benefit ATO's own philanthropy! The Chapter raised over $9,000 to benefit the Children's Miracle Network and had a large percentage of our Chapter members on the planning committees, executive board, and participant list. Tau also hosted a province-wide recruitment workshop where we welcomed over 500 sisters to our campus. These sisters enjoyed hearing from a nationally-known speaker, KJ of Phired Up Productions. KJ focused on how to converse efficiently in recruitment settings and how these skills translate to life beyond the collegiate sorority years. Per Tau's yearly tradition, sisters traveled across the Missouri border to enjoy some snow tubing at Snow Creek. The event was a blast with record attendance. The Chapter also held a couple of sisterhood events, including bowling and pottery painting. These events were also well-attended and a great study break for many women. The spring semester Chapter-wide service event was held at the Special Olympics. The event, held in Overland Park, was a fabulous opportunity for Tau women to make an impact with the special needs community and sisters thoroughly enjoyed the event. Mom's Weekend was a great end to the semester with mocktails at the Chapter House and a brunch at the Oread. There were a record amount of women in attendance to enjoy the delicious food and extensive silent auction. In turn, Tau raised a great amount for the Parents Club to contribute to the "Building Pride" landscaping and renovation efforts. Tau seniors were honored with a week full of events culminating in the alumnae ceremony and brunch. The graduating class was excited for the future and to become active Pi members. Overall, Tau had a busy but wonderful semester. Sisters are eager for fall—including seeing the newly renovated Tau Chapter House! Alpha Delta Pi women joined together to be the top fundraising team for the KU Dance Marathon, benefitting the Children's Miracle Network. ADPi women surpassed the fundraising of Alpha Tau Omega men whose national philanthropy partner is Children's Miracle Network!
