Brother James Morrison, also commander of American Legion Post 156, gave a presentation about the POW/MIA empty chair. Andrew Jackson from the North Carolina National Guard was on hand to present the Vietnam Era Veterans with a pin commemorating their service. NEWTON – Joseph O. Goble, seated, hits a true milepost as he celebrates his 70th year of Masonry. Brother Joe, a member of Catawba #248 in Newton, will cel- ebrate another major day this year: he turns 103 on Sept. 10. Joe became a master mason in Statesville #27 on Aug. 16, 1946. He changed his membership to Catawba #248 the following year, on Aug. 5, 1947. Celebrating with their brother are (L-R): Mack Sigmon, senior grand warden and member of Catawba #248; Robert Jarrett, past master and past secretary; Joe Goble; and Chris Wilhoit, master. KERNERSVILLE – Kern- ersville #669 in June awarded a scholarship to Amber Goforth. This scholarship was presented by WM Brian Anderson. Go- forth's father, Kernersville's Se- nior Steward Shanon Brooks, was in attendance to help pres- ent the scholarship. CLEMMONS – Clemmons #755 honored its military veterans in June with a steak dinner provided by Brothers Hank Skee and Wesley Walker. Vet- erans also received a commemorative pin, presented by Worshipful Master George Powers, recognizing their service to our country. The veterans hon- ored included: Bob Charlier, Furman Mason, Robert Furches, and Ernest Parker, all Air Force; Jerry Brooks, Alan Burke, Gene Isenhour, Denzil Knight, all Army, and Trampus Stanley, Army, 82nd Airborne, and Assault Platoon; Richard Cobb and Donald Rininger, Marines; Herb Thomas, Marine Reserve; Bruce Ayres, Skip Larson, and Leigh Leverenz, all Navy.
