VBS focuses on camping out, heroes, super powers, castles By ROCHELLE MOORE rmoore@newsargus.com Summer and Vacation Bible School go hand-in-hand in the Wayne County area, with several VBS programs planned at area churches. A variety of themes are planned that focus on camping out, heroes, super powers and castles. One VBS will center on the "God and Goodnight" book and another will pro- vide children the opportunity to learn about the fruit of the spirit. There is no cost to attend the VBS programs. Some of the area vacation bible schools include: • "Hero Central" Garris Chapel United Methodist Church, June 11 through 14, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. VBS is open to children from nursery age to rising eighth graders. A meal will be served at 6 p.m. each night. Garris Chapel UMC is located at 823 Piney Grove Church Road, in LaGrange, and can be reached at 252- 566-4355. • "Fruits of the Spirit" New Hope United Methodist Church, June 19 through 22, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Children from kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to attend. New Hope UMC is at 200 New Hope Road and can be reached at 919-778-1124. • "Super God! Super Me! Super Possibility!" theme at the First African Baptist Church June 19 through June 22, starting with a din- ner at 5 p.m. VBS is available to chil- dren age 6 and older. The church is located at 803 Harris St. Email vaca- tionbibleschool2017@gmail.com for more information. • "Camp Out — Get S'more of Jesus" Selah Christian Church June 19 through June 21 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dinner will be served each night and VBS is open to children of toddler age and older. Children are asked to bring a clean stuffed animal to donate to the fire and rescue. The church is located at 1332 Selah Church Road, in Four Oaks, and can be reached at 919- 738-8011. • "Camp Out" Freedom Baptist Church July 10 through 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. Children from age three to sixth grade are invited to attend. Evening meals are not planned.
