FKQ CLONE PHI KAPPA THETA FRATERNITY n IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY n SPRING 2017 G reetings Iowa Xi brothers! I hope the nearly first half of 2017 has treated everyone well. For those whom I haven't had the opportunity to meet, my name is Clayton Short, and I have taken on a new position within the alumni board as alumni relations chairman. I live in Ankeny and work in Story City as a flexible packaging engineer. One of our big goals for Phi Kappa Theta in 2017 has been to create more opportunities for brothers to socialize and reconnect. Whether it's an event at the chapter house or happy hour in Des Moines, we are always looking for ways to stay connected. We've held a couple Cyclone basketball game watch parties, which have been great successes—it certainly helped that the Cyclones were 2-0 at these gatherings! Several Des Moines area alumni were able to attend each event and we look forward to doing these for both football and basketball in the future. We were even able to get a group together in Kansas City to watch the Cyclones take home the Big 12 Tournament trophy. For those who were able to attend Activation in January, we really appreciate it. The undergraduates were thrilled to have alumni around. As undergraduate events and ceremonies pop up, we will send you the details so that we can build a greater alumni presence within the chapter. This summer, we will be launching the Phi Kap brewery tour. Each month we will pick a different brewery in the Des Moines area to visit and tour. If you know of a great spot to grab a beer, please let me know and we can put it on the list. I will be sending updates on this as we get closer to the summer. We are also discussing the possibility of holding a tailgate for every football game, and not just for Homecoming. We realize that Homecoming weekend doesn't always work out for everyone, and football games are a great opportunity to stop by the house and get more involved with the chapter. Iowa Xi has been trending in a positive direction over the last couple years and it would be great if alumni involvement could match. If you have any ideas for events and get-togethers, or would like to set something up in another state or city for alumni to meet, please reach out to me. I hope you have a great summer and I look forward to seeing you at future events.
